Harley Davidson motorcycles are divided into five families—Dyna, Softail, Sportster, Touring, and VRSC—distinguished by the engine, frame, suspension, and other characteristics.
Dyna
There are six models in the Dyna Family: FXD (Super Glide), FXDC (Super Glide Custom), FXDB (Street Bob), FXDL (Low Rider), FXDF (Fat Bob), and FXDWG (Wide Glide).
Dyna motorcycles can be distinguished by their big-twin engines and traditional styling.

Sportster
There are seven models in the Sportster Family—XL 883 (Sportster 883), XL 883L (883 Low), XL 883C (883 Custom), XL 1200N (1200 Nightster), XL 1200L (1200 Low), XL 1200C (1200 Custom), and XL 1200R (1200 Roadster).
The Sportster is known to be longest-running model family in the Harley-Davidson motorcycles line-up.

The Touring Family, or dressers, includes three Road King models and five Glide models in various trim.

VRSC
There are three models in the VRSC Family—VRSCAW (V-Rod), VRSCD (Night Rod), and VRSCDX (Night Rod Special).

Liquid-coled, 1250cc, Revolution engine
