I was hoping someone could provide some instructions for replacing stock grips on a 2007 Softail. I need information on how to proceed, starting with getting the stock grips off. The only instructions that came with the Kuryakyn Pilot grips were a bright red sticker that read, “warning, keep the glue from the throttle open”. This is not much help for someone who has never done this before. So if anyone can provide better instructions, I would greatly appreciate it.

My buddy has a Custom and he is extremely happy with it. One of the selling features for him was the seat cushion, which is very thick, with the back of the seat giving him a small push towards the front. The seat also allows you to sit forward and you’re much higher on the Custom. However, if you have long legs, this motorcycle might be a bit cramped for you. In addition, if you are interested in after market products, there aren’t many of them for the wide glide. The softail on the other hand has many more after market parts. This may be important if you decide to customize your motorcycle.

During this time of year many people will be putting their motorcycle in storage. I was hoping someone could provide some steps or suggestions of what needs to be done when storing your motorcycle. So far, I was informed that once your bike is in storage, your fuel eventually becomes stale and begins to build up varnish. This is not something you want to happen while in storage. So my friend told me that I should pour fuel additives inside my gas tank to prevent this from happening. I never even thought of doing this. Does anyone else do this? Are there any other things I need to do when putting my motorcycle in storage? |

I was wondering why do certain people blip their throttles? Are they doing this because they are trying to keep their engine from dying, trying to clear fouled plugs, or mechanically declaring "Look at me?" Over the years I have been fortunate to own motorcycles that are well maintained with correctly set idle speeds and fuel mixtures that generally do not stall or foul their plugs when idling. Those riders who own carbs with chokes have throttle advance or fuel enrichment devices that can handle winter temperatures just fine without quitting. Hence, there is really no need to blimp the throttle, especially if you own a well-tuned fuel injected motorcycle. So what does everyone else think? Is there a good reason for doing this or is it just to show off? |

From what I can recall, Harley Davidson did try to expand their market. I think they used to make Golf Carts and Snowmobiles, but neither were successful. In fact, didn't Ford put out a HD F series truck? Every time someone purchases this truck, Harley Davidson gets cash from the sale. In my opinion, this might be their way of checking out the automobile market. If all goes well, there just might be a future Harley Davidson car on the rode along with the motorcycles. I definitely would like to be the first to buy a Harley car. How about everyone else? |
