I’ve got a question regarding lowering the idle on a 2007 softail. I realize if I lower the idle too low, it will result in a low oil pressure, charging problems, etc. I have read the users manual thoroughly and it explained that the preferable idle range is 900-1100 rpm. It also recommends the idle should be lowered by an authorized technician who is knowledgeable on this topic. Well, I’ve been looking around the bike and I noticed an adjustable screw located behind the air filter backing plate. Is this what controls the idle? Can I simply adjust this screw and lower the idle myself, without taking it to the shop?
